“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life, whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear… Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?” (Matthew 6:25-27, NLT)

Ever feel like you’re just another face in the crowd? Another number on a list? The to-dos pile up, the bills keep coming, and that quiet whisper in the back of your mind insists you’re falling short. Jesus, in the middle of His most famous sermon, interrupts our anxiety with a breathtaking truth. He points to the birds, simple, un-anxious creatures, and says, "You are more valuable."

He doesn’t say, “You are valuable if you produce more.” Not “You are valuable when you get it all together.” He simply says your father values you. Deeply. Personally. The point isn’t that life will be free of needs, but that we are free from the worry about them. Our value isn’t a wage to be earned; it’s a fact declared by our Creator. If He attends to the sparrows, how much more will He care for you, the one He made in His own image, the one He calls His own?

Today, when the worry rises, let creation preach you a mini-sermon. Watch a bird. Remember. You are not just provided for; you are treasured. Your worth is settled in heaven before your feet even hit the ground.

Your worth isn’t in what you do, but in who you are. And you are His.
