MIRACLES UNSEEN

I recently had the chance to celebrate my birthday, and it was pretty memorable. However, amidst all this, I found myself contemplating some very important issues.

Every day, we often seek God’s hand in great moments. The job promotion, the recovery from illness, the breakthrough that changes everything, and many more. But what about the quiet, constant miracles that surround us daily? The fact that you woke up this morning, took a deep breath, and could open your eyes to see another sunrise is itself a miracle.

The Bible reminds us, “It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is thy faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22–23, KJV). Every morning is a testimony of God’s mercy and sustaining power. The ability to see, hear, think, walk, and love is not ordinary. They are continuous proofs of divine care.

In Psalm 3:5, David declared, “I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the Lord sustained me.” Think about that. Every night, while we sleep defenceless, God keeps our hearts beating and our lungs breathing. The systems of our bodies function in harmony without our command. These are miracles unseen, small yet profound acts of God’s faithfulness.

Jesus Himself often gave thanks even before the miracle manifested (John 11:41). Gratitude opens our eyes to see what others overlook. When we cultivate a thankful heart for the little things, we begin to recognise that everything is a miracle, from the gift of breath to the beauty of a sunrise.

So, let us not wait for something dramatic to give thanks. Let every heartbeat be a reminder of God’s sustaining love. As 1 Thessalonians 5:18 urges, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the miracles I often take for granted. The breath in my lungs, the rhythm of my heart, and the peace of waking to a new day. Open my eyes to see Your hand in every moment, both big and small. Teach me to live with a grateful heart, always aware of Your daily mercies. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
