God First? But Why?

In our fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle of setting goals, chasing dreams, and making endless plans. But as believers, we are reminded in Proverbs 19:21 that “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” Planning is not wrong. In fact, it is wise. Luke 14:28, which states: "For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?". But our plans must be submitted to God, the Alpha and the Omega (Revelation 22:13), who knows the end from the beginning.

God created each of us for a specific purpose (Jeremiah 29:11), and to walk in that purpose, we must constantly seek His guidance. Jesus Himself showed us this model of surrender, saying in John 5:19, “The Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing.” If Christ lived in complete alignment with the Father’s will, how much more should we?
The Bible tells us in Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” To align our steps with God’s will, we need to spend time with Him by reading His Word, praying, and listening for His direction. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105), and through it, we are reminded of His promises and guided by His truth.
So yes. Plan. Dream. Strategize. But place every intention before God. Let His counsel be the final word, because only what is built on Him will last (Psalm 127:1).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the Alpha and the Omega. We surrender our plans, desires, and dreams to You. Align our hearts with Your will and guide our every step. Help us to seek You daily through Your Word, trusting that Your purpose for our lives is greater than anything we could imagine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Amen.
